The Denman Evangelism Award
OK folks in the Holston Conference, this is your opportunity to call attention to and Celebrate the people in your churches who are effectively introducing people to Jesus Christ.
I received this award at Hillsville First United Methodist Church as a Lay Person in 2004 and it was a great honor, one that I cherish. Any member of a Holston Conference United Methodist Church can nominate a Youth, a Lay Adult and or a Clergy Member for the Denman Award. The Witness Team for the Conference of which I Chair will then choose from the nominations to select a winner of each category. The Award will then be given to the recipients at Annual Conference in June at Lake Junaluska.
Please follow this link to make your nominations http://holston.org/ministries/connectional-ministries/evangelism-witness/programs/denman/
Look under Links and Resources on the left hand side of the page and follow the instructions.
Lets respond and Celebrate those who are carrying out the Great Commission to share Jesus with the World.
Please do it now as we tend to forget.
Ronnie
Begun in 1981 to honor United Methodist clergy and lay persons in each annual conference who exhibit unusual and outstanding efforts for the work on Christian Evangelism, the Harry Denman Evangelism Award helps draw attention to evangelism in your conference by honoring one clergy person and one lay person who are reaching others effectively for Christ.
Those eligible for these prestigious awards are persons who are effective in helping persons to experience the transforming love of God through Jesus Christ. Each annual conference is encouraged to honor one lay person and one clergy person from their conference each year.
In 2008, The Foundation for Evangelism celebrated together with 46 conferences the awarding of 94 Denman Evangelism Awards.

Judging Others
A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
“That laundry is not very clean,” she said. “She doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.” Her husband looked on, but remained silent.
Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.
About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: “Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?”
The husband said, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.” (from Cybersalt.org)
A truth to ponder……
We want to be safe in a safer world and God wants us to be safe in an unsafe world. We want to protect ourselves from danger; God wants to protect us in the middle of danger.
