Sunday Night Live March 14th, 2010 Don’t miss wha
Jesus invited Matthew (a tax collector) someone who was considered the lowest of the low, to follow Him and Matthew accepted. Next thing you know, Matthew has invited a bunch of his tax collector friends to meet Christ.
How many of you will bring your friends to meet Christ on Sunday night?

God’s Text Message for this Sunday Night: March 7th, 2010
Matthew 9: 9-13
9As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” came and ate with him and his disciples. 11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”
12On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
update from Laura in Nicaragua
hey guys!!!
just wanted to send a quick update: the bacteria is gone from my stomach!!! (they give us medicine here that can not be aquired in the U.S…whether that is because of legal reasons or resources…i am not sure. haha) it´s an anti-biotic that works wonders. I´m all better – and was able to take the kids head on today!!!
i did not get to see Marvin yesterday. =( …but I am certain it´s all in God´s hands.
Today we painted the church in Nueva Vida and had a party in Casa Berna Bay (an orphanage UVA and W&M are working in) with all the schools, AND all the kids we´ve been working with this week.
Tomorrow we are going back to la chureca to build a roof on a feeding center they are starting there, and then back to nueva vida for our last goodbye with our kids (but not really!! just see ya later for now) it will be a sad day.
our surprise saturday is (shhhh) going to climb an active volcano!! TOO COOL!!!!!! no one in the group knows except our group leaders, so it´ll be a super awesome surprise.
Ray and I got to talk about God today with a man that lives in the church in Nueva Vida. He said his favorite scripture verse was Proverbs 1:7. He was a really awesome guy.
sorry this is so short!! just wanted to send a quick hello!!! love you ALL and thank you for the prayers!

Here are a few ideas and or quotes from the book.
No wonder the devil wants to keep fasting a secret, because God promises to watch your back. Isaiah 52:12
Fasting in and of itself is a continual prayer to God
Satan will try to convince you that you will die without food, you won’t. God is preparing to breathe life in to your situation to open a door to His promises.
When are we going to take dominion back from king stomach and seek after the kingdom of God?
When you fast it is a hunger strike against hell.
In the wilderness Jesus was tempted by the same cunning voice that Eve heard in the Garden. We still hear that same voice today.
This is one of the most exciting books I have read so far on the topic of fasting. Jentezen has a love for God and he leads his church to fast the first 21 days of each year in the 21 day Daniel Fast. I would like to prepare my folks to do the same in 2011.
It is a great book, packed full of biblical truth about the forgotten spiritual discipline of fasting. Everyone should read this book.

You Reap What You Sow: New Insight
I am reading this morning and I come to this verse and I see it in a new light. I have read it many times and I have interpreted it from a perspective of eating and having a full stomach but now in my 18th day of a 40 day fast I am reading it form a place of spiritually eating and being spiritually full. Look at this.
Galatians 6: 7-9
7Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.
8For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
9And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.
If you allow it your flesh will take over and rule your life. This is why times of fasting are so crucial to your life, times of humbling ourselves before the Lord. Fasting is a way to keep our armor fit and our blades sharp.
God is alive and powerful and He waits anxiously for us to join Him.
