Out Of The Box Worship Center Update for September 27th, 2010
Wow, it has been busy. Our family returned from 4 days of vacation on Friday and I am playing catch-up.
Our Senior Pastor, Ty Harrison, formally introduced Jay Holderfield to the 1st Hillsville Congregation yesterday as the Worship Leader for Out Of The Box Worship Center. Not that Jay needed any introduction, he has been playing with the SouledOut Band for our Sunday Night Live Service under the direction of Cindy Jackson for some time now. However, it was done to make sure everyone knows what is happening at the new worship site and this way, everyone can celebrate God’s work together.
We are currently waiting on the architectural drawings for the renovations to be completed at OOTB Worship Center. As soon as we receive those we will acquire three bids for the work that is to be done.
Jeff Holderfield will be heading up the Sound and Multi-Media for the New worship site. Jeff, Jay, and I are working on pricing for the new equipment that will be purchased in the near future.
The Launch Team will meet again soon to plan details for our first “Taste and See” event on October 10th. Details will be out soon.
Cindy Jackson and I met one week ago to discuss adding people to the SouledOut Band. This week at SNL God blessed us with 5 new people who practiced with the band and something awesome happened. There was no plan for those who practiced to take part in the service but they worked so well together that they all played for the service and it was electrifying, for a lack of better words. The band never sounded better and it is unimaginable that folks could practice together for a couple of house and sound that great. It is a God Thing!
We are hearing from new people every week who are interested in being a part of this new work and we are excited. God is at work and doing awesome things in Carroll County. We are blessed to be a part of what God is doing.

Blogging My Way To The SNL Sermon for October 3rd, 2010
Wow, there is so much here to ponder, to pray about, and to study. I hope you are with us on Sunday Evening October 3rd, you may be surprised by what you find to be the truth about this passage.

Matthew 19: 3-12
3Some Pharisees came to him (Jesus) to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”
4“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh‘? 6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”
7“Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”
8Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.”
10The disciples said to him, “If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry.”
11Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given.12For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

I am the Planting Pastor of Out of the Box Worship Center and I also serve as the Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hillsville Virginia. We are a Multi Site Church, one church in multiple locations. Our 1st campus is located at 225 Fulcher Street in Hillsville Virginia. Our 2nd location is on Main Street in Hillsville, FUMC Downtown, Out of the Box Worship Center, and our 3rd location is 522 North Main Street in Hillsville and this is our Youth Ministry Center, FUMC Downtown “Out of the Box”, Youth Ministry. The most recent ministry we have is “Out Of The Box Worship Center” and we are located at 516 North Main Street Hillsville. This site is now my main focus, along with the Youth Ministry.
I have a Passion to see hurting people come to know Jesus Christ. I believe that we as Christians have to demonstrate God’s Love to the world, rather than just telling them they are loved. I am married and have 3 sons two very special nephews that are like sons, 3 grandchildren, 5 great nephews, and one great niece that are like grandchildren. I am a blessed man.
I attended school at Carroll County High School, Wytheville Community College, Liberty University, and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.
