Prayer Walking for Our County

We are a church that is serious about introducing our community to Christ. In Carroll County 78% of the residents do not attend church anywhere on Sunday mornings. We are Praying and Fasting and now we are Prayer Walking. Two ladies in our church have begun to walk through our community downtown and they are inviting others to come along.

This is a ministry that we need to saturate our county with. We have seen in the scriptures where our prayers have a part in God’s plan to reveal Himself to those who do not know Him.

A Call To Fasting and Prayer

As many of you know, I started a 40 day fast on January 1st of this year and on Thursday evening I will break the fast. However, I intend to live a fasted lifestyle as part of the means of grace in my life to walk Spirit Filled.

I was blessed this past weekend when one of our members called me to say that God had placed it on his heart to continue the fast and to continue praying for our church. This gentleman will pick up when I break my fast on Thursday evening and fast for 10 days. He also shared with me that he feels that God has impressed on him that we as a church should continue this fasting and prayer through the remainder of 2012.

I am in awe of what God has done through this body already and I too believe this is a move of dedication and devotion in honor of our God. I can’t even imagine the miracles that God will do and how many of the 78% will come to know Him through this kind of dedication.

I am asking everyone to pray and seek God to see if He would have you participate in the fasting and prayer. We will have a calendar at the Worship Center this Sunday for people to sign up to say, “I will do a 1 day fast on a certain day or a 10 day fast, whatever it is that God is leading you to do. There may be more than one at a time, that would be awesome. I get filled up every time I think about this and I know a lot of others do as well.

This is a time for us to go back to the roots of our faith and just seek God with reckless abandon.

Who will join us?

Pastor Ronnie

By the way, there are lots of helpful hints on my personal blog about fasting. Just go to my site and search the term “Fasting” and there are many posts there. There is also a lot of great information on the web and there are a lot of great books on the topic. I have reviewed several of them on my blog. www.imagebearerblog.com

WHAT IS A LIFE GROUP?

A Life Group is a place for you to connect with others in the church outside of regular church services. It is a place to relax, learn,
share, and encourage one another in our Christian lives.

New Life Groups are forming soon – men’s & women’s groups in Hillsville based on the movie “Courageous” and “The Resolution for Women”. If you are interested in hosting a group, or being a part of a group, please contact Pastor Pam at the church office for more information.

Day 38, I eat on Thursday Evening

I am at Ministers Convocation at Lake Junaluska and last night our speaker Kent Millard made a statement in his opening prayer that sums it up.

“Lord, help us to become masters of ourselves so that we might become servants of others.” Kent Millard

This sums up a lot for me in this time of fasting. With the help of the Holy Spirit , we are to become masters of ourselves.

1 Corinthians 9:27 (ESV)

27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
The Bible is full of scripture that points us in the direction of “discipline.” All of life requires discipline if we intend to live a life that is productive, a life that is health filled, a life that is Spirit filled. I have read so many books and articles on the “filling of the Holy Spirit.” I have read books on praying for the filling, I have read books about how basically to manipulate God into something.
I have yet to read one that just tells us the cold hard facts. In order to be filled with, in order to walk in, in order to be guided by the Holy Spirit, it takes discipline. God has given us what John Wesley called “the Means of Grace>’ These are things like Prayer, Bible Study, Giving, Simplicity, Meditation, and fasting. Yes, fasting is a means of grace. This is not a complete list by any means but it is a start.
What are you doing to train yourself to walk in the Spirit?
Today is day 38 of my 2nd 40 day fast and to be honest I am ready to eat solid food. For the past several days I have had each day a V8 juice or a broth and at times a spoonful of peanut butter. I have lost 38 pounds and it feels great. My mind is more clear than it has been in the past two years. My soul feels cleansed. My understanding of the Bible is more clear than ever.
God is doing miracles in my soul.
Ronnie
