I had a conversation on this topic with a friend of mine recently, like last week. She was proposing that if she just had more money, all of her issues would be gone. I proposed that with that view, when she has $1 million, she will wonder when she will have 2, 4, or $6 million. Thank you for the great post!

God is speaking-are we listening? I had that same conversation with my family this week-"well there's something nice about having a small"house"-it's easy to clean! " I have been thinking about all the money we spend eating out and the size of last night's dinner portions were ginormous! Enough to feed many hungry people. I have also been "tuned" in to all the unhappy vacationers-wondering what keeps them so unhappy when they should be enjoying this time of family togetherness. I'm having a blast! :) We must change our perspective-the place where we are looking...and when we do-we will recognize the snake for what it is! God wants US, not our stuff.

What breaks my heart is that our president of the United States has just endorsed gay marriage. I know this is tough subject but how can you say you personally think it's ok when you call yourself a Christian. The Bible teaches that God considered this a sin (not a law that was misinterpreted) but God considered it a sin. Is it ok to say I personally think murder is ok? Is it ok to say I personally believe that it's ok to steal? If it's alright for us to decide which sins we think are "acceptable" then what's off limits. Sin is Sin. We shouldn't judge as we all are sinners but we also should not openly be condoning sin. A better statement would have been that we need to show love to everyone and treat everyone with love and not hate.

What breaks my heart is that so many Christians, even many of those known as Christian leaders, still carry a bag in which they collect "Spiritual Stones" to cast upon those who happen to disagree with them.
I also agree that people naturally have sexual attractions which are not the result of choice. I think a better parallel than pedophilia (which has a helpless victim, thus is non-similar as a comparison) is the desire for heterosexuals to have sexual interaction before marriage. Perhaps also similar is how a man can love and cherish his wife, but yet have an intense sexual attraction to other women. It is a natural feeling, yes, but to act upon it is sin.

I believe that "guaranteed" appointments are a hindrance and a roadblock to the revival of the church. It plugs the system up with folks who've lost their call and are doing their own will instead of God's. I've known too many that did irreparable harm to local congregations just so that they could hang on until retirement. If they can't be fruitful in some measurable way, retrain them, move them or lose them.

Something good....
Romans 8:22-25 All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it's not only around us; it's within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We're also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance. That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don't see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.

26-28Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

Only God can turn our pain into a beautiful child who chases after Him...
Let us run the race, each passing the torch from one runner to another, so that God can expand the territory of heaven THROUGH the work of the Body of Christ. Keep your eyes on the prize.

We are about to plant/birth our 6th campus at Christ Chapel. This next campus will be in Galax, our first outside of GA. The campus church model was something God lead us to after outgrowing our fourth building in 10 years. Instead of moving again and with building not an option we split, on purpose. Each campus has had it's own wins and sacrifices. Some have worked great, and some have not worked at all. Overall, I can boil down five years of this campus model like this. More people in the kingdom, less people in one building. It has been worth it. We are all on one team, one family, just not in one place.

I don't know what God will ask your church family to do, but I can't wait to watch.

Go get 'em UMC & Out of the Box.
